Restaurant
Come and relax with family and friends and enjoy mouthwatering food at Mariella’s overlooking the beautiful rolling hills of the Swartland. Your children can play on the lawn and jungle gym while you sit back and unwind on the deck. This newly opened restaurant on the Capaia Wine Estate, just outside Philadelphia and 30 minutes from the centre of Cape Town, is headed up by well-travelled Head Chef Brendan du Preez trained at the innovative CTIA Stellenbosch where he did his City and Guilts diploma in Culinary Arts as well as an advanced diploma. His first experience of exquisite fine dining cuisine was under the renowned Chef Martin De Cock, after which he received the opportunity to gain experience at Mariella’s Restaurant. Here, he broadened his international horizons and gained valuable knowledge in German cuisine under Chef Mark Hartlief for almost 2 years. In the past few years he has learned the fine skill of mixing flavours with different cuisines including Asian, French and South African. According to Brendan, there is nothing more rewarding than to see patrons returning to the restaurant for his distinctive dishes. Combine Capaia’s Sauvignon Blanc, Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux blends for a well-rounded lunch or dinner.

“Once upon a time in 1997 shortly after I discovered my love for Africa. My enthusiasm for the continent developed into a steady relationship at the Cape of Good Hope where I found the farm of my dreams. It was the former De Hoop wheat farm which stole my heart. We planted our vines on well rested soil where vines had never grown before. My vision had become a reality and Capaia Wine estate was finally my own. My wish was to restore the old farmhouse to its original style which had fallen into a state of dilapidation – A gem of Victorian architecture whose predecessor on that site dates even further back to the year 1725. We restored it and decided at the beginning of 2013 that a restaurant named after the dearest person in my life, my one and only daughter, Mariella , would be opened.. The beautiful building, which has kept its Victorian features, has been transformed into an elegant restaurant with state of the art kitchen equipment where we strive to produce food of the finest quality along with our wines which stand for the true meaning that we are “Wine Above All” and only produce wine of excellence. Bringing you everything of only the best is what I strive for. So now my dream is well alive and on its way to new beginnings.”
